Welcome to the Collaborative Practice Group Web Page
Collaborative Practice is a new option for
divorcing couples for resolving disputes
respectfully and equitably without going
to court. The goal of collaborative
practice is to help divorcing
couples focus on their most important
goals, especially children.
Because couples who choose
the collaborative model agree not to go
to court, they retain control of the
process and outcome. Within the
collaborative process, spouses learn a
framework for effectively communicating
their concerns and goals. The entire
collaborative team works together, not
against each other, towards finding
mutually beneficial solutions for
critical issues. As a result, divorcing
couples preserve their dignity, their
privacy, and their ability to continue
to effectively co-parent their children
once the divorce is over.
In the collaborative process, each party
retains collaborative counsel to advise
and guide them as a member of the
collaborative team.
