Bio 

Amy Y. Wirtz is one of the founding members of Skirbunt, Skirbunt & Wirtz, which began in 2007. Her primary practice area is Domestic Relations Law. Amy is a trained collaborative lawyer and arbitrator, helping her collaborative clients to navigate their cases to resolution without the devastating impact of litigation. She is also a highly qualified litigator, having practiced Family, Juvenile and Criminal Law in both the public and private sectors for over 18 years. Amy’s practice has encompassed a wide variety of subjects, including:

collaborative divorce

dissolution

child custody

complex property divisions

pre-marital agreements

mediation

guardian ad litem work

pre-nuptial agreements

litigation

In addition to an extensive private practice, Amy has been a member of the Center for Principled Family Advocacy since 2002 and is currently serving as Vice President. She has lectured frequently on Collaborative Divorce Methodology, training attorneys in this non-litigated approach to ending a marriage.

As a child of divorce, Amy understands its human element. It is her goal in every case to bring her clients through this painful process in a respectful and dignified way. She brings distinctive skills to help each client end their marriage and reshape their family structure in a manner that allows them to preserve their family relationships and financial assets.

Amy received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Toledo, where she graduated with Honors. She received her JD from Cleveland Marshall College of Law. Amy is admitted to practice law in the State of Ohio and has appeared as counsel in Lorain, Erie, Huron, Lucas, Wood, Cuyahoga, Medina, Geauga, Summit, and Stark Counties. Amy is a member of the American Bar Association, (served on the Unified Family Court Counsel), Ohio State Bar Association, Lorain County Bar Association (served on the Board of Ethics and an active member of the Family Law section), Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, International Association of Collaborative Professionals, and the Center for Principled Family Advocacy. She resides in Bay Village, Ohio with her husband and two children.
