Supported by a full service law firm, BARBARA K. ROMAN focuses her practice on divorce, family law, civil litigation, estate planning and the business issues related to these legal matters. She is an articulate and practical advocate for reducing the negative impact of disputes on the client and the client's finances, business, children and relationships. With extensive training in business and family mediation, Ms. Roman favors resolving business and personal conflicts through mediation and collaborative advocacy as a preferred alternative to costly litigation. She believes a dispute should be tailored to the individual needs, desires and personalities of the participants with focus on achieving a win-win result that creates lasting acceptance of the outcome by minimizing conflict and reducing expense. Ms. Roman helps her clients through stressful and emotional periods by keeping them informed and involved in the process to ensure that their views and desires are integrated into the solution.

Receiving her law degree from Cleveland Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University in 1977, Ms. Roman served as Ohio Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division. During her tenure she gained extensive litigation experience at all court levels including the Ohio Supreme Court, drafted Ohio consumer litigation, and enforced Ohio's Consumer Protection Laws. As Managing Attorney of a national legal service plan, Ms. Roman supervised a multi-office legal staff who provided a full range of legal services for its members. In private practice since 1988, Ms. Roman became partner in 1991 in a Cleveland law firm before joining Meyers Roman in 1997.

A frequent speaker on family law and related topics to professional and community audiences, Ms. Roman is a Trustee of the Cuyahoga County Bar Association serving on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Steering Committee, and has served as Chair of the Family Law Committee. Ms. Roman is a mediator and trained in collaborative and advanced collaborative practices. She currently participates in numerous community activities including her current position on the Advisory Board of Ursuline College.
